1.    What made you choose Southern Belles Boudoir?

As silly as this sounds the lighting.

I decided to do a session as a deployment and Christmas present for my boyfriend and started looking around OKC for boudoir photographers. Southern Belles Boudoir was actually the first studio I found. I was a little hesitant because they were a little bit pricier than some of the other studios I was looking at, but every time I looked at a different photographer I found my mind drifting back to Southern Belles. There’s something about the way they manipulate natural light that I’m obsessed with. I stalked their Instagram for days and fell more in love with every photo I saw. They had a way of capturing a woman’s beauty in such a unique and breathtaking way; I couldn’t get them out of my head. 

I decided that if I was going to do this, I was going to do this for myself as well as my boyfriend. This was an investment in me, and I wanted my final product to take my breath away. 

(BTW The final photos totally did leave me completely breathless)

 2.     What were you nervous about coming into your session?

I’m a bit of a worry wart.

Surprisingly I wasn’t terribly worried about being nearly naked in front of Ashley and Rachel. Our meeting before my shoot was so much fun that I already felt incredibly comfortable with them, but I was actually nervous about a lot of things. I was worried about how my hair should be, what style of lingerie to bring, what colors would look good on me, did I shave my legs well enough the night before, and so many other little things. I’ve lost 90 lbs in the last two years, and so I also had a lot of physical worries about my body. This body still feels new to me and has stretch marks and loose skin; I don’t always know how to pose or hold my body now. 

The reality was that Rachel and Ashley were so positive and validating that five minutes into the session all those little worries melted away. They showed me how to pose and gushed about how amazing certain colors looked and all the pieces I brought. They made me feel like sex on legs and I didn’t have a single care in the world. The two mimosas before the session also helped my nerves a bit ;)

3.    How do you feel now that your session is complete?

Incredible! I almost cried at the reveal because I had never seen myself look so beautiful. Seeing myself in those photos was like seeing the way my boyfriend and the world sees me. It was on of the most empowering things I’ve ever done for myself. 

4.    What was your 3 favorite things about your Southern Belles Experience?

First and foremost, it has to be the badass women behind the sessions! Ashley, Rachel and Ashlee are absolutely amazing at what they do. They make you feel beautiful, sexy, and powerful. There’s no one better to have take half naked photos of you.

Second, I love the attention to detail. Everything from hair, makeup, wardrobe, to the posing is perfect. They tweak and tailor everything to make you look as stunning as possible, but still while emphasizing your natural beauty.

Lastly I think I’ll have to pick the sense of confidence I got. The confidence boost I got from the shoot didn’t end with the session. I still feel great in my own skin, and I know I owe part of that to my experience with Southern Belles. There was something impactful and beyond empowering with taking my clothes off and thinking “I’m gonna rock this.” It was one of the most validating experiences of my adult life. 

5.    What would you say to a fellow badass lady who is a little nervous about booking a boudoir session?

DO IT!!!! Do it for you! I promise you won’t regret it!!
